Frequently Asked Questions after the Storm for CCISD
Posted on 09/06/2017

*The following questions will be updated and more will be added as we receive more information*

Q1: When will school resume?

A1: The Clear Creek Independent School District will reopen on Monday, September 11, 2017. Schools will operate on their regular bell schedules. School buses will run their regular routes; however anticipate delays due to debris in neighborhoods.
Q2: What if my family has been displaced and living in a different area of the school district?
Please notify us as soon as possible to discuss options that best meet the needs of your family. Clear Creek ISD offers students the opportunity to continue to attend school at their regular zoned campus or we can temporarily enroll them in the school near you. If you currently are living outside the district because your Clear Creek ISD home address is unlivable, we can also help as each family’s needs are unique. Here’s where to call or visit in person:

In Person:

McWhirter Elementary Professional Learning Center, which has temporarily been transformed into our student enrollment center. The facility is located at 300 Pennsylvania Avenue, Webster, Texas. Hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

To call:

If you cannot go to this location, call 281-284-4831 between 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.

Q3: What damage has happened across the district and how will it affect school when we return?

Clear Creek ISD had an assessment team, maintenance workers and restoration crews immediately in place to begin the work of getting schools ready for students. Of the District’s 45 schools, 44 suffered some type of damage. Click here for a district-wide assessment. Brookside Intermediate suffered the most damage in Clear Creek ISD with the other schools having minor roof leaks and/or isolated flooded areas. When students return, there will be areas where casework or carpeting are missing until such time those can be installed.

Q4: Will we have to make up the days that were missed?

No. The Texas Education Agency is offering waivers for the two weeks. Clear Creek ISD will apply for the waiver. In the meantime, curriculum coordinators have adjusted the sequence and pacing of Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) to fit the revised calendar.

Q5: Will the CCISD dress code be enforced?

We recognize many families lost their personal belongings therefore, standardized dress code will be temporarily lifted. However, the CCISD dress code (pg. 17) is still in place.

Q6: What do we do if we lost our district-issued laptop or it was damaged?

Campuses will be asked to conduct a device check during the week students return to school, September 11-15, 2017. CCISD will likely not have enough devices to replace all damaged devices. Students who return with a storm-damaged device will return it to the district, at no charge to the student, regardless of insurance. Campus computer technicians will keep a record of which students have returned a damaged device and make arrangements to provide the student a replacement as soon as possible.

For CCISD to support all students with 1:1 in grades 6-12, the district will be asking students who have a personal laptop or tablet to use that device instead of the district-issued laptop (Dell 3150 or HP ProBook x360), and return the district-issued laptop to the district. If a student returns a device and opts to use a personal device, any insurance fees paid for the 2017-18 school year will be refunded. The returned devices will be used to supplement students who returned with a storm-damaged device.

Q7: Will free meals be provided?

As of right now, elementary students will receive free breakfast and lunch through the end of September. Secondary students will be provided free meals for the next two weeks. An assessment will be done after the two weeks to determine additional needs.
