This is the image for the news article titled About the Special Ed Parent Advisory CommitteeThe Special Education Parent Advisory Committee (SEPAC) is in its second year and continues to bring together educators and parents across the district. SEPAC members (one per school) serve in an advisory capacity to the Superintendent and District Special Services Leadership Team.

At past meetings, the committee provided input on what the Special Education Parent Resource Center (PRC) should include. During its meeting on Thursday, September 26, committee members had the opportunity to tour the PRC and meet its new specialist, Paula Marshall, who shared an overview of the center and the workshops and training classes being offered this year.

In addition to the PRC tour, Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith provided a Legislative Update and news about district happenings. Dr. Cynthia Short, Executive Director of Special Services, then shared the results of the TEA Review on the district. It includes a pre-survey, best practices interview, desk review of documents, on-site visits and a post-survey. Since CCISD participated in the pilot of the new review, those involved were able to give input and guidance on what future reviews should include.

More information on SEPAC is available on the CCISD website and the Special Education Parent Resource Center calendar is available here.
