Two CCISD employees, Dr. Michele Staley and Dr. Pam Ellis, were recognized for earning their doctoral degrees.

Several CCISD employees in the finance department were recognized for earning the highest certification from the Texas Association of School Business Officials: Terri Aragon, Kelly Kemp, and Harriet Macik.

Dr. Cynthia Short, executive director of special services, has been named the Administrator of the Year by the Texas Council of Administrators of Special Education and Cynthia Peltier, director of special services, was named volunteer of the year by the organization.

Dr. Short presented a program update on the special education. In CCISD, 4,200 students receive special services. This is 400 students more than last year.  A CCISD graduate and transition teacher highlighted the progress and success of Adult Community Education Services (ACES) program.

Board Items of Interest

The board scheduled a public hearing to discuss the 2017-2018 budget and proposed tax rate for August 28, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. The proposed tax rate remains unchanged with $1.04 for maintenance & operations and $0.36 for interest and sinking. The district will not increase the tax rate this year to pay debt associated with the recent $487 million bond program due to rising property values.  During the election process, the district anticipated an increase of $0.035 on the interest and sinking tax rate for this year.

The board approved 2017-2018 District Compensation Plan which includes a

  • 2% increase to the teacher salary schedule with additional increases at the 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30 and 35 years of experience. These increases are all inclusive of any state mandated pay increases.
  • 2% salary increase for all professional and auxiliary employees
  • Annual adjustments for experience for employees on the Administrative Salary Schedule
  • The second year of a two year compensation plan to increase bus driver pay
  • Fiscal year 2017-2018 stipend rates

Leatrice Sanders – Dean of Instruction/Clear Falls HS

Bridget Christmas – Assistant Principal/Clear Brook HS

Mandy Antolini – Assistant Principal/Victory Lakes Intermediate

Kacie Bevel- Career and Technical Education Coordinator
