Posted on 01/26/2016
musicalsIn Clear Creek ISD, theatre students develop their talents through a variety of theatrical experiences. Whether on the stage or behind the scenes, students gain an appreciation for the arts and while learning to communicate creatively and work in a team-oriented environment.  Classroom instruction and audition-based performances allow students to explore and create through the development of acting skills, physical movement, use of makeup and costuming, lighting, sound, set design and construction. Below are this years' musical productions at Clear Springs High School, Clear Lake High School and Clear Falls High School.

Clear Brook High School and Clear Creek High School will not perform a musical this season due to ongoing auditorium construction related to the 2013 Bond program.

A musical perfect for the whole family, Seussical takes us into the world of Dr. Seuss, where we revisit beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo. Now one of the most widely produced musicals in the country, Seussical weaves a story of friendship, loyalty and love. Despite all odds, Horton and Gertrude band together to save the Whos, free Horton, and restore peace and unity to the Jungle of Nool. Charming Seussical teaches us the power of being unique, and the importance of fighting for your beliefs.

Rodgers & Hammerstein's first collaboration remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today. Set in a Western Indian territory just after the turn of the century, the high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy, and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story. Although the road to true love never runs smooth, with these two headstrong romantics holding the reins, love's journey is as bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road. That they will succeed in making a new life together we have no doubt, and that this new life will begin in a brand-new state provides the ultimate climax to the triumphant OKLAHOMA!

Spamalot

Lovingly ripped off from the classic film comedy MONTY PYTHON AND THE HOLY GRAIL, SPAMALOT retells the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, and features a bevy of colorful characters, not to mention cows, killer rabbits, and French people. The 2005 Broadway production won three Tony Awards, including "Best Musical," and received 14 Tony Award nominations.
