Qualifying DECA students from Clear Creek High School, Clear Brook High School, Clear Lake High School and Clear Springs High School traveled to Nashville, TN, to compete in the recent 2016 DECA International Career Development Conference.

Clear Creek High School senior Christina Morrison came out victorious at the competition by earning the title of International Champion in the Principles of Business Administration event. This was her first year participating in the program.

DECA helps students attain 21st century skills in everything from collaboration and teamwork to communication, critical thinking, problem solving and creativity,” said Clear Creek DECA Advisor Shawn Mosley. “The preparation it requires to compete, at either the high school or collegiate level, is not unlike any that they will undergo as business professionals. In short, DECA students are much more foundationally prepared to enter into the workforce, and I am very proud of Christina and the rest of my students for their commitment to this program.”

More than 10,000 students from around the world travel to this conference to demonstrate their college and career-ready knowledge by participating in DECA’s industry-validated competitive events. These events are aligned national curriculum standards in the areas of marketing, finance, hospitality, management and entrepreneurship.
