When most people think of Bay Area Houston, they picture an area that generally enjoys economic stability as home to the nation’s center for human spaceflight, a rapidly growing medical center and thriving specialty chemical sector. But upon a closer look, it’s not hard to see there is more to the story. There is a growing number of students and families who require assistance in providing basic needs to ensure academic success and a future with promise. In fact, last year 27.4% of CCISD students were recognized as economically disadvantaged.

But through an outpouring of care and support, it is clear the Bay Area Houston community shares a core belief with Clear Creek ISD: The measure of any community is the success of its children.

From campus PTAs, Communities in Schools and faith based groups to your neighborhood Kroger and the Assistance League of the Bay Area, community organizations rallied their giving and support in quantities large and small. But no matter the size of the gift, the impact was felt far and wide as every student is being equipped and dressed for success. Kroger donated more than $50,000 in Backpack Booster packets and other school supplies essential for the classroom. Through its well-known Operation School Bell Program, the Assistance League of the Bay Area provides clothing to school-age children, boosting their self-esteem and helping them to fit in with their fellow classmates so they can focus on learning. Their mission is still underway this year but for the past several years, the Assistance League of the Bay Area typically dresses more than 900 students, fitting and preparing each child with multiple changes of clothing. The Assistance League of the Bay Area also supports students from Dickinson ISD, Friendswood ISD and La Porte ISD.

The Clear Creek ISD Board of Trustees, administrators, teachers and staff extend a heartfelt thank you to these community organizations, and any that may have been inadvertently left off, who are ensuring a bright future for students.
