The Rotary clubs of Space Center, Seabrook and League City honored Clear Creek ISD’s 45 campus teachers of the year and announced the 2016 Elementary and Secondary Teacher of the Year during a luncheon at South Shore Habour Resort and Conference Center on May 16, 2016.
Kristi Roney of Falcon Pass Elementary was chosen as the CCISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. The 5th grade math and science teacher is dedicated to engaging her students within the classroom and having them walk out feeling successful each day. A product herself of CCISD, Roney has become a leader within her school and the district.
Clear View High School’s Dale Jensen is the CCISD Secondary Teacher of the Year. His caring and compassionate demeanor and always being the one to go above and beyond to help anyone in need at Clear View made it easy for his colleagues to nominate him for this award. Jensen has been a high school math teacher for more than 17 years, and is devoted to working with his students one-on-one and giving them the patience needed to help them achieve.
Both winners also happen to be under the leadership of the 2016 CCISD Principals of the Year; Monica Giuffre from Falcon Pass Elementary and Michael Houston from Clear View High School. Clear Creek ISD congratulates both Kristi Roney and Dale Jensen, as well as the other four 2016 finalists: Bonnie Jeffcoat, Mossman Elementary 5th grade teacher; Stephanie Hirsch, North Pointe Elementary 1st grade teacher; Tiara Toney, Clear Creek Intermediate science teacher; Katie Batenhorst, Clear Creek High School social studies teacher.
Roney and Jensen will now move forward to the regional and hopefully state selection process for Texas Teacher of the Year. They each received $1,750 from the Rotary clubs of League City, Seabrook and Space Center. Finalists received $750 each. Click here to learn more about the 2016 Teachers of the Year.
