Recognitions

The student leadership team at Armand Bayou Elementary led the pledge.

Several CCISD students were recognized for various art awards including TASA/TASB Art Exhibit, Pasadena Livestock Show and Rodeo Art Contest, and the 2015 CCISD Holiday Card,

The board was recognized for its role in CCISD being named a top workplace in Houston by the Houston Chronicle.

Board Items of Interest

Lisa Wooley, currently serving as a district instructional specialist for secondary advanced academics in Pasadena ISD, was named the Secondary Science Curriculum Coordinator.

Dr. Robert Bayard, currently serving as executive director of assessment and evaluation in CCISD, was named the Chief Technology Officer.

A presentation about the district’s college and career readiness efforts was given. The District saw record attendance at the CCISD College and Career Fair, Financial Aid Night, and Clear to College. There will be a live webinar on February 10, 2016 with information on the new PSAT. Stay tuned for details coming in early 2016. Click here to view the entire presentation.

The board approved the following new course options for the 2016-2017 school year and will be added to the Education Planning Guide: Algebraic Reasoning, Statistics, Musical Theater, Strategic Learning for High School Mathematics, Holocaust Studies, AP Capstone Seminar, AP \Capstone Research, and Spanish for Spanish Speakers I/II/III/IV Advanced Academics.

Due to House Bill 2610, the 2017-2018 Academic Calendar approval will be moved to the January General Board Meeting to allow the Texas Education Agency to finalize the rules related to this legislation. Under House Bill 2610, an academic school year is based on minutes with 75,600 minutes required instead of a certain number of instructional days.  

The school board’s annual compliance statement for Board Training hours was presented. All school board members exceeded the required training hours. The board attended  203.5 hours of training.
