Congratulations to the Clear Springs High School Theatre Department who took home this year's 14th annual Tommy Tune Award for Best Scenic Design for their musical production of "Seussical." The cast and crew were nominated for eight total Tommy Tune Awards this year, including Best Ensemble/Chorus and Best Musical.
The news of their victory came in a special broadcast online on April 19 from the competition's sponsor, Theatre Under the Stars (TUTS), since the original awards ceremony was canceled at the Houston Hobby Center due to weather conditions. Even though the students were upset about not being able to perform and accept their award in person, the group held a viewing party and celebrated their win together.
Seussical took audiences into the world of Dr. Seuss, where beloved characters including The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and JoJo came alive with a backdrop of vibrant colors and props. The Clear Springs High School Theatre Department is led by Director Mark Stonebarger and the Choir Department is led by Director Rob Phillips.
