John F. Ward Elementary in Clear Creek ISD will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a special celebration at the school on Saturday, April 30, 2016. Ward staff and students, both former and current, as well as the extended community are invited to take a walk down memory lane from 9:30 to 11 a.m. as the school reflects on the past 25 years.
Guest speakers for the ceremony will include the first two principals of Ward along with the current principal, Kathy Gouger. A Time Capsule will also be revealed and sealed to mark the silver anniversary. Students and staff will contribute pictures and memories of their time at Ward and make predictions of what the next 25 years will look like. The capsule will be reopened on the school’s 50th anniversary. The ceremony will conclude with a special choir performance from Ward students before the doors open to the school carnival outside for everyone to enjoy.
“This is a special year for Ward Elementary and our community,” said Principal Gouger. “For 25 years, Ward Elementary has been the hub of our community. Our families and extended community have partnered with our school to create quality learning experiences and to grow our students to go out in to the world and make a real difference. We are excited to honor Dr. John F. Ward as well as the administrators, teachers and students who have made and continue to make Ward one of the best schools in Texas!”
Since opening its doors in 1990, Ward Elementary has been leading the way in growing leaders of tomorrow. The school’s original mission signifies the beliefs of its namesake, the late Dr. Ward, which is to celebrate the uniqueness of each individual and enable all students and staff to achieve their highest potential. Dr. Ward incorporated this mission throughout his ten years as superintendent of CCISD from 1977-1987, and Ward staff and students plan on continuing to build a similar culture throughout the next 25 years.
