The sun shone brightly on Taylor Lake Village Park as a tarantula, ferret, Sulcata tortoise and even an Axolotl took part in the 7th annual "Walk on the Wild Side" 5K to benefit the Living Materials Center (LMC) at Seabrook Intermediate School. Families walked the park loop three times and along the way could stop at learning stations that featured animals from the LMC.

The annual event is the brainchild of two former Seabrook Intermediate students, Connor Turley and Mitch Gaines, who are now seniors at Clear Falls High School. For seven years they've been the driving force behind this successful community service project. "We're going to miss it when we go off to school next year," said Connor Turley. "I plan to come back though and participate in the walk."

All proceeds from the event go to benefit the Living Materials Center which houses 60 different species of animals. Teachers from across the Clear Creek Independent School District can check out the animals and use them to enhance their curriculum and enrich the classroom. During the Sunday, January 24 event, the Timber Cove Garden Club also presented a check to the LMC for $1000.
