League City, TX – Visitors from the Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), a core performance agency that supports the Japanese government’s overall aerospace development and utilization, came to the United States for science teacher development through NASA. During their stay, they visited Brookwood Elementary to tour the campus and teach a special science lesson in two classrooms.

The JAXA group taught Mrs. Clason and Mrs. Johnson’s classes two different lessons that day. One was over weight distribution on an object and the other focused on sound, harmony and teamwork while building their own straw instruments. Both lessons were hands on and very exciting for all students.

Before their science lesson, visitors were given a tour led by school principal, Kathryn Gouger, to highlight the students’ schedules and activities. They walked through halls and classrooms with questions and appreciation towards the different cultures. Ricky Arnold, American Astronaut and husband of a Brookwood staff member greeted the Japanese guests and thanked them for their contribution to education.
