On Wednesday, September 9, 2015 officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of 16,000 Semifinalists in the 61st annual National Merit Scholarship Program, including 20 students who attend high school in the Clear Creek Independent School District. They attend Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Falls and Clear Lake high schools.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for 7,400 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $32 million that will be offered in the spring. The nationwide pool of Semifinalists, representing less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state. The number of Semifinalists in a state is proportional to the state’s percentage of the national total of graduating seniors.
