When students, staff and parents returned this week for the 2015-2016 school year, many of them saw some big changes around the district. The Clear Creek ISD 2013 Bond Construction and Maintenance program is well underway with seven projects completed during the summer and six more in progress.
At Greene Elementary school a new classroom and music room addition was completed along with a new parking lot that includes a dedicated lane for parents to use to pick-up and drop-off students. The AC/heating system, fire alarm, roof and campus sound system were all replaced as well during the summer break. New AC/heating systems are also in place at Armand Bayou, Whitcomb and Clear Lake City Elementary Schools.
Clear Lake Intermediate School was also on the summer project list. Crews converted classrooms to accommodate Career and Technical Education programs, added security fencing around portable classrooms, replaced major components of the AC/heating system, improved site drainage, improved athletic facilities for student safety and replaced exterior walkway canopies.
The CCISD Challenger Columbia Stadium will not open for the 2015 football season, but the 10,000 seat arena is taking shape. The field has been installed, the track poured and the bleachers are almost complete. The field house and press box are under construction and the parking lots are almost complete.
The Clear Lake High School rebuild is starting to take shape with the completion of the connection between the new phase one building to Krueger Fieldhouse and the erection of all major structural steel for phase one of the project. The driveway between Krueger and the temporary walk way has been completed and so has a major portion of the new student parking lot. Crossing guards have been added to help with pedestrian traffic which will improve safety of pedestrian routes.
The new McWhirter Elementary School is rising tall in Webster with 95% of the exterior framing now complete. Inside framing is underway as is sheetrock installation in several classroom pods. The new school should be finished by December 2015. Click here to view photos of the CCISD 2013 Bond construction projects.
