The Clear Creek Independent School District’s Visual and Performing Arts Department is pleased to announce another year of the Choral Masterworks Series. Students and staff at various CCISD schools will collaborate and present a very special evening. The second annual performance of the Choral Masterworks Concert will be held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, January 14, 2017.
“The Masterworks Series performance is one of our favorite events of the year,” explained CCISD Coordinator for Visual and Performing Arts Shara Appanaitis. “It is a truly collaborative learning experience for our students, and they benefit so much from working with professionals in the music community.”
The top choir students from Clear Brook, Clear Creek, Clear Falls, Clear Lake and Clear Springs high schools will join forces with the Clear Falls High School Orchestra to perform Vivaldi’s Gloria. Conducted by Dr. Paul Busselberg, it promises to be a concert that hits all the right notes. Dr. Busselberg holds a Doctorate in music from Rice University. He has been heard in the Houston area with ensembles such as the Houston Ballet Orchestra, Bach Society Choir, Mercury Baroque Ensemble, Ars Lyrica, Musiqa, and Col Canto. Nationally, he has performed with the Santa Fe Opera, Florentine Opera, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Southwestern Michigan Symphony Orchestra, Rockford (IL) Bach Chamber Choir and Orchestra, and the Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra. He is currently head of Voice and Choirs at San Jacinto College in Pasadena, Texas.
The Choral Masterworks Concert will feature soloists Jade Blakey (Clear Lake High School Assistant Choir Director), Stephanie Cramer (Clear Brook High School Assistant Choir Director), Jill Fetty (Clear Falls High School Choir Director), Kym Reeves (Clear Springs High School Assistant Choir Director), and Sean Stultz (Clear Creek High School Assistant Choir Director).
The Choral Masterworks Concert is free and open to the public. It will be held at University Baptist Church, 16106 Middlebrook Drive in Houston, Texas 77059 at 5 p.m. on January 14, 2017.
