Whitcomb Elementary School Library Gets Book Boost

League City, TX – Pre-K students at Whitcomb Elementary School will have a few more books to choose from when they visit the library. The board of the Clear Creek ISD Friends of the Library awarded one of three grants to Whitcomb Elementary Library for Preschool Readers. The books purchased with the grant money will greatly increase the number of books available for Whitcomb Preschool students to check out and enjoy with their family as they practice their literacy skills.   Whitcomb Librarian Gloria Miller said, “Reading to children at this age sets the stage for reading readiness and learning. I am thrilled to increase the number of books available for our three and four year-olds to take home and read with their family.”

The Friends of the Library have been raising money to support Clear Creek ISD Library programs since 2012. Money is raised from the online sale of gently used books and through individual and household memberships as well as from donations. The Friends are currently wrapping up their membership drive.
