Clear Creek ISD Science Fair Winners Announced

League City, TX – The 54th annual CCISD Science Fair was a reminder of how strong the spirit of exploration is in the Clear Creek Independent School District. More than 600 elementary and secondary projects were evaluated by volunteer judges from the community. Top honors were awarded in grades 4 through 12 during the awards ceremony on Tuesday, January 13, 2015 in the Bayside Commons at the Education Village. In all, 280 students received recognition for their projects which ranged from Beethoven’s Mathematics to Elucidating the Molecular Mechanisms of Atrial Arrhythmogenesis.

More than 400 4th and 5th graders competed at the district level science fair in the elementary fair. “The quality of the elementary projects this year was outstanding,” said elementary science coordinator Anne Smith. “Our community of judges worked very hard to evaluate the projects and assign the awards.”

At the intermediate and high school level, 203 students competed in four divisions and 18 different categories. Projects were evaluated by teams of volunteer judges from the community. They selected Grand Award winners and place winners.   More than 80 Junior, Ninth, and Senior Division winners are eligible to advance to the Science Engineering Fair of Houston.

The District Science Fair was sponsored by Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC). A former marine and astronaut, and now SAIC Program Manager, Col. Ken Cameron addressed the young competitors emphasizing they are the scientists of the future. He told the crowd there’s little more important than learning from your mistakes, a life lesson, not just a component of science experiments.

Dozens of elementary and high school teachers volunteered their time to ensure the success of the CCISD District Science Fair. Click here to see all the CCISD Science Fair winners.  Listed below are the Grand Award Winners:
