Clear Creek ISD Earns State Comptroller’s Platinum Leadership Circle Award

League City, Texas -- For the fifth year in a row Clear Creek ISD earned the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Leadership Circle Award. The District was also awarded five stars on the Comptroller’s Financial Allocation Study for Texas (FAST) report which examines both academic progress and spending at Texas’ school districts and individual school campuses. The Platinum Leadership Circle Award is the highest rating awarded by the Comptroller and is based on the accessibility of financial information.

The Leadership Circle award recognizes local governments across Texas that are striving to meet a high standard for on-line financial transparency by opening their books to the public. The criteria includes providing clear, consistent pictures of spending, and sharing information in a user-friendly format that helps taxpayers understand how their tax dollars are spent. CCISD scored 21 of 22 possible points on the rating’s criteria. According to the State Comptroller’s Office the Platinum designation spotlights entities that go above and beyond providing financial transparency in local government.

“At CCISD, everyone works diligently to do the best we can while using our resources in the most responsible way possible,” said Superintendent Dr. Greg Smith. “Kudos to our Finance Department for keeping us on target and helping the District focus on doing what’s best for all students.”

CCISD is one of 46 public school districts and charters to earn the five stars in 2014. Each district and campus is assigned a FAST rating of one to five stars, indicating its success in combining cost-effective spending with the achievement of measurable student academic progress. Five stars reflects the strongest relative progress combined with the lowest relative spending.
