Clear Creek ISD Earns National Recognition for Budget
Government Finance Officers Association of the United States (GFOA) and
the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) have
honored the Clear Creek Independent School District for superior
budgeting practices. The GFOA awarded CCISD with the Distinguished
Budget Presentation Award for its budget beginning September 1, 2014.
ASBO International selected CCISD to receive the prestigious Meritorious
Budget Award for the 2014-2015 budget.
The GFOA award
is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting and
represents a significant achievement. “This award reflects the
commitment of CCISD’s Board of Trustees, the District’s Business and
Support Services Department,” said GFOA Director Stephen J. Gauthier.
“It signifies the resolve of this organization to meet the highest
principles of governmental budgeting. CCISD’s pioneering efforts to
improve the quality of budgeting provides an excellent example for other
governmental bodies in the United States.”
In order to
receive the budget award, CCISD had to satisfy nationally recognized
guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines are
designed to assess how well a budget serves as a policy document, a
financial plan, an operations guide and a communication device. Budget
documents must be rated “proficient” in all four categories, and the 14
mandatory criteria within those categories, to receive the award.

Executive Director, “The ASBO International Meritorious Award reflects
CCISD’s commitment to sound fiscal management practices and represents a
significant achievement for the Business and Support Services
Department, staff, and the school district.” CCISD has received this
award given for excellence in school budget presentation and setting a
high standard for transparent budget development for eight years,
receiving the first Meritorious Award in 2007.
