Culinary Arts students from Clear Springs High School finished 2nd place at the 2016 Texas ProStart State Competition. Shawn Dalton was named the State Champion in the Skills USA Restaurant Services Competition
Christina Morrison, from Clear Creek High School, ranked first in the national DECA competition.
The Doubles Tennis team at Clear Springs High School ranked 2nd in the region and qualified for state tennis tournament.
The boys golf team at Clear Springs High School and Clear Lake High School ranked 5th and 7th at the state tournament respectively.
Brandon Taylor of Clear Brook High School placed 4th in Texas in the 100 and 200 meter track and Payton Sawyer of Clear Brook High School placed 9th in the 300 hurdles.
The artwork of Erica Xu, Clear Creek High School, was selected to hang in the U.S. Capitol.
The artwork of Harley Wanger-Torres of League City Elementary and Tanvi Gupta from League City Intermediate were selected to be on display in the Texas Governor’s office.
The following students received honors at the 2016 Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Art Competition: Juliana Zanaj, Peighton Garcia, Mariya Chukhray, Jessi Chen, Shayla Bowen, Julia Curtis, Joann Chung, Christina Rasmussen, and Isabel Hu.
VASE art medals were awarded to 32 CCISD students.
Eleven CCISD high school students received Scholastic Art & Writing awards: Alysa Campos, Sharon John, Vicky Nguyen, Madeline Castillo, Diana Morales, Sabrina Shepherd, Joann Chung, Shayla Bowen, Summer Elliott, Sasha Horan, and Jessie Chen.

Board Items of Interest
The following leadership positions were announced: Sheridan Henley, currently serving as an assistant principal in Pearland ISD, was named dean of instruction at Clear Brook High School. Travishia Pickens, currently serving as a math/science instructional specialist in Spring ISD, was named elementary assistant principal. Lisa Helmle, previously served as an elementary assistant principal in Clear Creek ISD, was named elementary assistant principal. Nicole Hicks, currently serving as a science teacher at Clear Lake Intermediate, was named assistant principal at Westbrook Intermediate. Shannon Simonds, currently serving as a science instructional coach at Clear Falls High School, was named assistant principal at League City Intermediate.
In a unanimous vote, the Clear Creek Independent School District Board of Trustees upheld the administration’s determination of the valedictorian of the 2016 Clear Springs High School Class, an honor challenged by another student.
The board approved $1.84 million to purchase 4,000 Dell laptop computers. Of the 4,000 laptops purchased, 3,180 will be distributed to the 7th grade class-level. An additional 317 laptops will be needed for the 8th grade class-level due to growth. An additional 180 laptops will be distributed to Clear Lake City Elementary students in grades 4 and 5 as part of their involvement with the Raise Your Hand Texas, Blended Learning Project. The remainder of the laptops will be used for spares and to fill in gaps created by changes in enrollment numbers.
In order to meet federal requirements, the school district has to increase its lunch price rate for elementary schools by $0.10 per meal. The effective rate for 2016-2017 school year will be $2.25 due to a federal mandate.
Perdue, Brandon, Fielder, Collins and Mott LLP provided an update on the district’s delinquent tax collection efforts.
